I am…

a Celiac and so is my youngest daughter. May is National Celiac Awareness Month.

You can now see on my sidebar the ‘Celiac Awareness’ badge. I hope you will at least check out Celiac Disease (click on ‘Celiac Disease’, it’s a link!) to learn what it is about. Learning about something new is never a bad thing and could even be helpful to you or someone you care about.

To people like my daughter and myself eating gluten-free is not a fad, it is a life-line that is life-long.

Please join me (and other Celiac’s) in supporting Celiac Awareness Month with the placement of the badge and link (which you see on my sidebar) on your blog or web page. You can get the code by clicking here and scrolling to the bottom of the page. Thank you so much for your support!

  4. I will definitely check this out. I know a little about it but I would like to learn more. I imagine that meal planning must be difficult, but I know it's very important. Thanks so much for sharing.

  5. I have many food allergies and intolerances, but as I always say to people who sympathise - it could be worse, I could be lactose intolerant or coeliac! It must be a really difficult thing to deal with, especially when eating out! I shouldn't eat bread, not because of the gluten, but because of the yeast. But at least I know that when I fall off the wagon, I'm only going to feel cruddy for a while, I'm not actually doing myself physical harm.

I feel for you and your daughter, but I'm pretty sure you're both managing it pretty well and staying cheerful. Well, like me with my allergies, what's the alternative? ;)

  6. The company I work for provides a website platform for auditing food suppliers - part of this function deals with all known allergens (although there are more on the list every year)- I was at a conference in London recently where our food agency were trying to work out further standards to keep people safe when choosing processed food.

I know that you are dealing with your condition and always check labels but others do not - I think labelling will change and that will help many people!

    Ooops - I'm rambling here... I'll stop now! x
