This ‘canary yellow’ ’ butterfly is a Yellow Swallowtail Butterfly (sometimes called ‘Old World Swallowtail’) at Rice Lake State Park, MN.
American Goldfinch
American Goldfinch are commonly seen around our birdfeeder. Overwinter they lose their bright ‘canary yellow’ color and regain their gorgeous coloring in the spring.

Your goldfinches are quite a lot different to ours. But I'm going to get some thistle seed this winter and see if I can't entice some English goldfinches to our feeder! Maybe I'll get some pics as good as yours! :)
