This photo was taken in Tennessee while passing through. It spawned several tornados. One of which we actually got caught up in, in our RV. Was a very scary portion of our March 28, 2009 trip. Eerily beautiful.

That picture is just stunning! I missed an F4 tornado by two minutes a few years ago, but the sky wasn't nearly as pretty as that!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous capture and definitely a very colorful and angry looking sky! The colors are stunning! Hope they don't come visit you as a tornado!! Have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteNiin Kaunis, mutta pelottava JOS SE tornado?
ReplyDeleteAnna,
ReplyDeleteNot sure I understand the question correctly but a sky like that is actually pretty threatening regardless of tornadoes. Heavy rain, hail and even high straight line winds are pretty dangerous. Even the lightening can be quite vivid and active. With skies like the photo you probably, at least, want to find some shelter. With luck it will all pass by. That day the winds were very very gusty rocking our RV all over the road. We were scared! Yet trapped in traffic because a tornado came through just ahead of us and picked up a semi trailor truck (18 wheeler) and threw it across the road. The traffic was at a stand still. However, the wind, storm and tornadoes were not. :) I think it the second worst driving experience we have ever had.
Wow, those look like movie clouds...some how computer generated. Gorgeous. Glad you're safe...I grew up around tornados...not fun to be out and about in those kinds of storms.
ReplyDeletefantastic cloud colors
ReplyDeleteWow! That's amazing! The sky can be quite incredible!

Beautiful and full of danger!
ReplyDeleteGlad you all made it though that storm safely last year.
Being from California I never knew what those kinds of clouds looked like or meant until 1997 when my daughter and I were in DC and we were standing in the street looking up,saying "gee, look at those clouds, they are blowing all directions ! seems so still down here though!"
A nice man at the Hard Rock Cafe shoved open a door and told us to get inside that was the eye of a tornado overhead!!!
That is one frightening, but beautiful sky! I'm glad you came through the storms ok.

Oooh, pretty! Looks like a Turner painting!
ReplyDeleteI believe those clouds are called 'mammalian' clouds and are typical of tornadoes. Pretty, aren't they?
Absolutely dramatic! Beautiful shot!
