What Once Was: #1
Blaze, Tex and Cosy were the three greyhounds that started life in the Retired Racing Greyhound world for our family. Blaze and Tex were adopted a couple of months apart, but later I found out they had been in a house together before. They were both older when I adopted them.
I adopted her at the age of 7. She was an easy to get along with girl that loved everyone, but she was indeed queen Blaze! Blaze passed away in 1997 at the age of 10.5 due to Hemangiosarcoma. But she not only paved the way for so many retired racing greyhounds to become a part of the family, she was also one of the hounds that inspired me to organize and run Greyhound Pets of America – Minnesota for many years to come.
Tex, like Blaze, came from an abusive home and I adopted him at the age of 8 years old. I still miss Tex and Blaze very much as they were certainly both extreme characters filled with so much spirit in spite of what they had gone through before coming to live with my family.
Tex passed away in 1999 when he was 13 years of age. A lover and a high spirited hound to the end. They broke the mold when they made Tex, I’ve never met another hound with a personality like his.
Cosette (called Cosy) was a 16 months old Blue Brindle girl who was cut from racing due to interfering at an early age. I adopted her a few months after Tex came to live with us. She was a very smart girl who won the heart of all she met but was very active and a little more than just about everyone wanted to handle. Always up for playing, my youngest daughter taught her to play basket ball by using a small basket ball Cosy could carry in her mouth. Very smart…but in the beginning we had to be very careful about our training with her because she was extremely ‘mouthy’.
Cosy was a very sweet, beautiful girl. She passed away in 2005 at nearly 12 years of age due to Osteosarcoma.
I still miss them all. Each had a wonderful, but totally different, personality and big warm loving hearts. They all live on through my memories and will always have a special place in my heart. They became part of me and I will never forget them.
We have had many retired racers and I will continue to share them with you as time goes on. I hope you will enjoy meeting them.
A few of them were before my digital camera and I am short on photos I can post. I intend to scan some of their old photos into my computer one of these days.

Cat
Cat….
Annoyed cat…
Tipsy cat…
Directional cat…
Multi-directional cat…
Fidget: “No cats or 'not a cats' were harmed in the making of this blog post…the humans are another story.”

Today In My Backyard
The weather radar for the Twin Cities at 8:45 am this morning. Some snow for us I guess! First snow fall of the season. At the time of the video and radar map the temperature in my backyard was about 31 degrees Fahrenheit.
I believe the last prediction I saw before this post was 9 inches of snow by the time it is done.
This is a heavy, wet snow, due to the warmer temperatures and humidity.

Catatonic Reflections
Fidget: “So…you guys want to see a reflection do you?”
Renner: “Well don’t look at me, I can’t even decide which toy I want to sleep with today. Hey, Lemme, how about you – got a reflection to share?”
Lemme: “Who me? Do I have a reflection I could share?”

Dinnertime at the Moss’s
Saw this on Facebook and couldn’t resist sharing it. Could be a clip right out of our own house a few years back.
Gotta’ love greyhounds they are so… civilized, well most of the time.

Just Hanging With The Folks
Renner here! These last couple of weeks we went to hang out with my Grandma and Granddad to celebrate 80th birthdays! Granddad had his on October 28th and Grandma is having hers in March, but I won’t be there for that one even if my folks go.
Here is my Grandpa opening a big brightly wrapped box…I think he liked it a lot and that is good!
My Grandma opened some too and I think she liked it also! Nice! They don’t look 80 do they!
Later everyone went out for ice cream.
Humm…. wonder what they were looking at…the moon maybe?
Wow that is *some* ice cream flavor, it has just about every color in the rainbow in it.
But it looks like he liked it!
I don’t like ice cream *at all* and much prefer a chewy any day! I *did* get a new bone out of the whole thing which made the whole thing a lot of fun!
Staying with my folks at Grandma and Granddad’s house is really very relaxing and a good time!

Waiting To Meet Lightning McQueen
Caught this reflection while waiting to meet Lightning McQueen and Mater (at Disney World).
When the time came ‘little guy’ ran in, said “hi” and cut out for what was next on his agenda. He was not real keen about hanging out in ‘Radiator Springs’ when there was so much to do elsewhere.

Meet The Family
Yes this is little guy, daughter and son-in-law. We were attending Mickey’s Not So Very Scary Halloween Party at Disney World.
The rest of the time ‘little guy’ looked like this:
He would do an about face and shout that we should follow him to the Mountain of Doom and to stay behind him so he could protect us. We never did find the Mountain of Doom, but he did indeed keep us safe!
Gramma and Grampa’s House
Renner: “Hi everyone! I have been spending time at my Gramma and Grampa’s house. It is a lot of fun getting all the extra cuddles but a lot harder to keep all these humans together in one group. Very tiring to have to round them up all the time, sigh….
Still, I can wander in and out of the house when ever I want and the food is good, lots of new smells too. My folks said I was on ‘vacation’…whatever that is. I personally think is more work due to the keeping track of all the peoples and having to decide if I want to be inside or outside all of the time.
Yawn…, better get going here, I feel another nap coming on.”
