As you can see by the first two photos I was being checked out pretty closely by some Flamingos while hanging out down in Florida. They looked to be a pretty healthy colony.

OK == I was about to complain that you're in Minnesota and I'm in Florida and you are posting flamingos and I'm not!! But I see you are or were here. BUT I still haven't seen any in the wild. We need to get out more.
ReplyDeleteIncredible, I forget how beautiful these birds really are. ESPECIALLY close up
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness this is very beautiful! My first time to see up close flamingos and the color is awesome! Happy RT!
ReplyDeleteRed is emergency
Amazing! I had no idea their heads could be so RED!
ReplyDeleteEpic photos.
ReplyDeleteI really like their color! I find them quite elegant too. My RT is here and my World entry is here.
ReplyDeleteThe real thing sure does put those plastic pink flamingos to shame, don't they?

ReplyDeleteGreat photos! My kids and I used to go to the Santa Barbara zo where they insisted on eating lunch while watching the flamingos (not the most appetizing spot in the zoo!)

Argh! I just lost my post. I had just typed that I saw some in the wild recently in St. Augustine. I've only had two wild sitings in all the years I have lived in Florida, and the other was in Bradenton just as you get ready to cross the bridge over to Anna Maria. They are my favorite birds due to their gorgeous color which changes depending on what they are eating I've been told. Loved seeing this! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Fabulous photos of Florida's Flamingos! When I lived on Anna Maria Island I used to see them often. Since moving off the Island, I have only seen them in the wild a few times. Sometimes tourists mistake the Roseate Spoonbills for Flamingos. I hope you enjoyed your visit here!
