ReplyDeleteCool festival! One year I shall have to try to catch it one year!
I'm a little behind again, so I will just say thank you so much to everyone for visiting with me, really appreciate it. Reader Wil, the festival started here I believe over 35 years ago (or there bouts). Back when it first started there wasn't so much out there, just a big field and some booths to get turkey legs and ears of corn....people ran up and down the paths where vendors were selling their wares in the midst of sword fights, jugglers, musicans, dancers and whatever else seemed appropriate (or un appropriate for that matter). As time went on the festival changed and it became filled with permanent stages and buildings that artists could use to display their work, and very wonderful work it is I must say. So now the buildings are real, but scaled down, and most certainly not really all that old. But they are very good replicas of things you might see in midevil times....I guess. :) You tend to see a little bit of everything out there as folks seemed to have mixed ideas regarding the 'Renaissance' period.
ReplyDeleteMaureen,
The festival is in swing from mid-August through the first part of October this year, so there is a pretty big window of time for you to visit should you get a chance!
Thanks again to all!
