Signs Spring Has Sprung

Finally spring has sprung in Minnesota. Any extra time is now spent on cleaning up the gardens and yard to ready it for the growing season. The bird in the photo is a Robin. Here, we consider this little feathered friend a sign of spring as they usually wait to arrive until the worst of winter is over. This week I will be working on cleaning the fallen oak leaves out of the flower beds. Oak trees are very nice, but don’t drop their leaves all at once the way a lot of other trees do. They continuously drop their leaves until the old ones are gone and the new ones take hold. In other words, we spend a lot of time raking around here in the fall and in the early spring.

This Hyacinth is the first flower that popped its head through this spring.

Putting the dock into the lake at my eldest daughter’s house. They have a lake right in their backyard. And look…!

…water that actually *moves*! No longer frozen, it is absolutely a sign that spring has come to Minnesota.

Another thing that is a sign of Spring is ‘flesh’…yep look…shoes with no socks! Yes!!

Farmer Ralphie – Face Of The Week #7

This week’s ‘Face of the Week’ is dedicated to my husband’s Father. Currently 88 years of age and unfortunately, last Friday had to be admitted to the cardiac ‘ICU’ with heart and lung problems. We have been with him everyday and just yesterday afternoon he seemed to be improving. This morning we got more good news, that he had a good night. Hopefully he will continue to improve and get back on his feet soon!  Dad, get well soon! We love you!!!

Bucky

This beautiful boy was a stray until James and Vicki found him and brought him into their home. They helped him enjoy the next several months though going through some trying medical issues. They cared not about the time and cost involved, this boy now called their home his. What a lucky boy to have found James and Vicki. No doubt they feel lucky to have found him as well. Unfortunately Bucky passed away last Wednesday and it is with a heavy heart and teary eyes I thank James and Vicki for being such selfless people and giving of themselves so Bucky could know heaven on earth, even if just for a short time. It is people like James and Vicki that make the world a better place. Bless you and yours, James and Vicki. My heart goes out to you, I am so sorry for your loss. I, for one, will never forget Bucky.  Hugs to you both.
