The Color of Shamrocks

071809_16_ruby Ruby is a greyhound with shamrocks on her collar. This fits in quite nicely for True Colors Thursday for this week we are focused on shamrock green!
And she has a rather nice ‘Face’ too doesn’t she? (yep another shameless promotion of my new meme ‘Face of the Week’, open until Thursday at 11 pm Cental).
KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA Here Ruby is laying with her most favorite toy at her Gramma’s house…a shamrock green stuffed eyeball.  I don’t know how many times I’ve sewn it back together because I can’t find another one like it any where. Certainly I’d never want Ruby to be without her eyeball, so I just keep this one together as best as I can for her.
091303_Ruby w shamrock 2 Here is Ruby at the Ren Fest with her family and I would suppose this is a form of a shamrock green  ‘face painting’ Greyhound style.
091303_Ruby w shamrock 3 She seems to like it just fine!
Below is our Trixi in her shamrock green collar and PJs!

Wonder if a green M & M can be considered shamrock green ?

Wall of Love Power

(Face of the Week reminder!)

Each time I drive into Minneapolis I see this mural at 1407 Washington Ave South. No matter how many times I see it, it captures my eye and I think how nice it feels to look at it. This mural also makes me curious as I have seen it countless times but knew nothing about it. So today…is the day, we will explore it a bit.

Love Power Church/Children's Gospel Mission Mural

Though I have done some searching for information this article written back in 2000 has been the only thing I have really found so far in regard to the history. It is also included in ‘Waymarking.com’ for area murals. The church is still in operation, holding services and has a clothing closet for those in need. Their website is intact but seems to be suffering from neglect as the calendar of events have not been updated since 2003.

Passing Stella’s

Stella's Words of Wisdom

"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will still prefer to be given a fish."

This reflection from my side view mirror is a reflection of the side of my car that is reflecting Stella’s Fish Cafe, an uptown eating establishment in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (It’s a two fer!)

More photos of Stella’s.

Here is a photo of Stella’s at night. You can also see on the photo that  a popular place to eat while at Stella’s is on the roof, at least when weather allows here in Minnesota.

Navy Rules!

A mail box and newspaper box both are Navy in color, seen downtown Minneapolis.

SONY DSC Sunset at Big Stone Lake Minnesota State Park has part of the sky looking a bit on the Navy side as the sun exits and the stars begin to take over the sky.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA A small child dressed in Navy blue in a kennel. Hummm….so there are other uses for large dog kennels!

Friends, both dressed in Navy blue, one small boy and a retired racing greyhound named Blew. We all miss Blew very much, this was taken not too long before he passed away during the summer of 2009.

The building on the right, as you are coming across the bridge, you can see in a distance is made out of stainless steel. It is Frank Gehry’s Weisman Art Museum is a four-story structure housing approximately 11,000 square feet of gallery space. The Weisman is made of brushed stainless steel and terra-cotta colored brick. The building, on the campus of University of Minnesota, is dramatically sited on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River.
